This is one from a series of 'vintage' stye photographs, part of a new collection. Comments have been received in the past stating that there is a strong narrative to my work, with an almost romantic aesthetic. Extremely interested in the history of photography I wanted to revisit my collection and experiment with imitating the results typically obtained from cameras with low quality optics and recreating the worn, aged look that comes with the passage of time...
....I once heard a fellow photographer claim that every piece of work that he produced was in fact a self-portrait.....he obviously didn't mean this literally but rather that each piece was a reflection of his personality, that we may glean something about him through viewing his work.Why someone paints instead of acts, why someone writes poetry instead of sculpting work in clay is an area of our persona that fascinates me, equally the reasoning behind why one photographer raises the camera to the eye while another walks by a certain scene interests me too.....I'm not sure of the answer and maybe I don't really want to know. All I would ask is that you take a little time to look at my work, let the mood and captured aesthetic wash over you and take from it whatever surfaces.
